I have been working with a group of superb wedding professionals on a project called Your Sparkly wedding. I will tell you more about that as we move closer to launching the venture, however, it involves working alongside amazing venues, some of whom are only just venturing into the world of weddings and functions.
One of those venues is Kennington Hall in Ashford.
Kennington Hall is a large, square, 3 storey high, red brick building built in the 18th Century and is currently the home of the Crouch family. It is a Grade 2 listed building (registered in 1951) and sits quietly behind a high red brick wall amidst banks of amazing Purple Rhododendrons on the A28 with amazing views across the Stour Valley. Look out for the little white chain railings and you will be right outside the house.
This gem of a ‘Gentleman’s Country house’ offers stunning rooms and grounds for weddings and other special occasions. There are two rooms available indoors. One with stunning Georgian columns and a fabulous bay window is perfect for ceremonies and the other larger ballroom which has amazing views over the gardens can utilised for the wedding breakfast. The stunning staircase lends itself for fabulous photographs for the bride and groom.
There is so much outdoor space that you will be spoilt for choice. The terrace outside the French doors is a complete sun trap.
There are lawns and an ornamental pond at one side of the house and on the other side a secret walled garden which will eventually be available for vintage teas, bouncy castles or even a wedding ceremony hidden away in the secluded grounds. You can choose to use a Tipi for a Festival style wedding or a Marquee for something more formal. Nothing is too much trouble for your hosts and they will gladly help you with recommendations for suppliers of these tents.
The family are at the start of their journey. They are currently awaiting change of use which is due mid-April and then they will be available for hire. Having held family weddings in the grounds already, Geraldine, Roby and Lana are quite used to hosting such events. Roby is already recognised in the wedding industry as a talented make-up artist so dealing with brides is not new to her or the rest of her family.
Kennington Hall will be hosting is first Open day on Sunday 7th June 2018. Please put this date in your diary.
