Dare to Dream – a Woodland Wedding in Kent

When I meet couples at wedding fairs, quite often they are not only searching for ideas and inspiration for things to entertain their guests with or for samples of cake, canapés or sweeties, quite often they are still searching for the right venue.

I often ask if money was no issue, where would they like to get married and surprisingly, it’s not all about medieval castles and stunning manor houses it’s often more to do with a dream.

A dream to get married in the middle of nowhere, yet surrounded by friends and family. A dream to be married with waves crashing on the beach or in the middle of beautiful woodland. Somewhere that reminds them of their childhood… a moment of nostalgia.

And this was how Jeska and Mark ended up marrying in the Bluebell woods at Tilmanstone in Kent.

Meet the happy couple

Jeska used to play here as a child with her Mother Julia who sadly passed away a couple of years ago. Jeska knew that if she was to be married in amongst the bluebells, her Mother would be present and that was how the wedding was planned.

Jeska is the talented designer and owner of The Bridal Boutique of Jules. Another homage to her Mother and she cleverly designed and created not only her own stunning wedding gown but also the bridesmaids and menswear too.

A winning team for a woodland wedding

I met Jeska originally, when I was invited out to talk to her and Mark about their wedding rings. At the time I was a Wedding ring consultant for Smooch wedding rings and both Mark and Jeska chose Rose gold bands for their wedding. Jeska’s was adorned with tiny diamonds whilst Mark chose to have Jeska’s fingerprint engraved around the band. We got chatting, as you do, and Jeska talked about her dream to be married in the bluebell woods… the rest is history.

Jeska had her hair done by her friend Bianca Gutsell at New Cheveux and her beautiful flowers were created by Contemporary flowers and Lilies and Lace.

The amazing photography was done by Olegs Samsonovs and he was an absolute pleasure to work with along with Matt Barker from Above Arcadia Productions. Neither were intrusive during the ceremony, yet both captured the most amazing moments in this wonderful ceremony. I am pleased to say that I will be working with both of these guys at weddings in 2017.

All of the woodland décor was created on the morning of the wedding by Jeska and Mark’s friends and the white wooden chairs were hired in and then taken away so that ramblers would never have known we had been there.

A word from Jeska

Jeska very kindly provided a testimonial for me as part of my entry into this year’s Kent Wedding awards. She says:

“Karina, from the moment I met her, had such a warm and friendly manner. I knew that she would be the right person to marry us at our small and intimate wedding in the woods.

Not only is Karina very professional in what she does, but so passionate and inspiring.

The service that Karina created for us, touched each and every one of our guests, it was so beautiful, so perfect and we will be forever grateful for her, making it so special for us.”

So dare to dream. If you choose a celebrant-led wedding ceremony, you can hold your ceremony wherever you want and remember… it is your wedding after all.
